Why should we perform “Shraddha”?

“पुन्नामनरकात् त्रायते इति पुत्रः” means The one who saves (protects) from hell is the son. Generally, in this life both sin and virtue occur, the result of virtue is heaven, and the result of sin is hell. In hell the sinner has to suffer severe tortures. After experiencing heaven and hell, the living beings again start wandering in eighty-four lakh births according to their deeds. The virtuous soul attains the human form or the divine form. Sinful souls attain the lower births like animals, birds, kites etc.

Therefore, as per the scriptures, it is the duty of the sons and grandsons etc. to perform such scripture-based deeds with devotion for the sake of their parents and their ancestors. So that those dead beings can attain happiness in the next world or in other life also, hence in Indian culture and Sanatan Dharma, it is mandatory to perform Shraddha for the dead beings of one’s parents and family in order to be free from the debt of ancestors. Has gone. Shraddha Karma is also called Pitra Karma. Pitru Karma means ancestor worship.
